Prime Minister Scott Morrison to deliver the 2019 Lowy Lecture

The Lowy Institute is delighted to announce that the 2019 Lowy Lecture will be delivered by the Prime Minister of Australia, the Hon Scott Morrison MP.

The annual Lowy Lecture is the Lowy Institute’s flagship event, at which a prominent speaker reflects on Australia’s place in the world.

The Hon Scott Morrison MP was sworn in as the 30th Prime Minister of Australia on 24 August 2018. Mr Morrison has held a number of senior frontbench positions, including Treasurer and Minister for Immigration and Border Protection. Since the re-election of his government in May, the Prime Minister has focused closely on issues of foreign policy. In September he will be the guest of honour at a State Dinner at the White House hosted by US President Donald Trump.

The Lowy Lecture will be held on Thursday, 3 October 2019 at Sydney Town Hall.

Past Lowy Lectures have been delivered by German Chancellor Angela Merkel; UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson; former CIA Director David Petraeus; News Corp Chairman Rupert Murdoch; Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull; Lowy Institute Chairman Sir Frank Lowy; and Prime Minister John Howard, who delivered the inaugural Lowy Lecture in 2005.

The Lowy Institute is grateful to Capital Group, NAB and Scentre Group for their generous support of the 2019 Lowy Lecture.

The Lowy Institute is an independent, nonpartisan international policy think tank. The Institute provides high-quality research and distinctive perspectives on the international trends shaping Australia and the world.
